The Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association is launching a program to help men and boys get involved, and stop violence against aboriginal women and girls.
The Ontario based project ‘I Am A Kind Man’ will be offered at Friendship Centres in Edmonton, as well as Calgary, Cold Lake, Grande Prairie, Hinton, Red Deer, Pincher Creek, Peace River and Slave Lake.
Merle White of the ANFCA says the project will be based on native traditional teachings, such as the Seven Sacred Rights – – which are wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility, and truth.
Earlier this year the RCMP claimed that in the cases they’ve solved, 70% of aboriginal females killed in Canada, died at the hands of other aboriginals. TheCanadianPress
