Tickets are on sale now for the Edmonton Comedy Festival, which runs from October 5th to 8th.
630CHED’s own Andrew Grose is the festival producer and he says this year, they’ve responded to popular demand, expanded the event, and have brought in a big name headliner.
“Well, we’ve got a couple of new things. We’ve added 1000 seats out in St. Albert to make our festival a little bit bigger, and those seats will be taken up by people who want to see Tom Arnold. So that’s probably the biggest news for the festival this year is that we finally brought in a big name.”
He says they assembled this year’s lineup in a very unique way.
“We went back through, what, 120…150 comics and we hand-picked each comic that we wanted back again all at the same time, and then we wrote each one of them individually to say, ‘this is how we chose you, would you come back?’ and every one said, ‘yes.’ So, this is absolutely the best lineup I’ve put together.
Grose says this year it’s the best of the best doing their full 45 minute sets in the Masters Series at the Varscona Hotel.
“Several of the comedians said that they loved the Edmonton crowds, but that they didn’t have enough time with them. So, we’re going to give them that time. So at the Varscona Hotel instead of seeing a comic do 12 or 15 minutes, you’re going to see them do their entire 45 minute set, and that includes Tom Arnold.”
