I hope the people of Ontario are paying close attention to what’s going on with their government.
Premier Kathleen Wynne, whose approval rating is dismal, prorogued the legislature last week, and had her people write a speech from the throne to start over today.
Some call it an attempted re-set of her government after losing that last by-election.
After failing to act on the high power prices revealed by Global News a while ago, she now has a new list of priorities.
The opposition calls it a distraction tactic and there is no doubt they have to get the people’s minds off what has happened so far.
Ontario is less than two years from the next election and the Wynne Liberals say they will focus on economic growth and job creation, and, oh yes, those high electricity prices.
In Alberta, we still had a year to go when Premier Prentice called an early election and we are still feeling the effects of that and waiting for the carbon tax to hit.
Wynne will need to be careful in explaining why rural electricity prices are so high, not to tell people to look in the mirror.
Let me know how you think this will all play out.
