Now’s your chance to apply to join one of the province’s hundreds of agencies, boards, and commissions(ABCs).
A website has been launched in an effort to open up the process to anyone who wants to apply for it. It also gives information on the current boards, how much they get paid, and the term of each appointment.
Finance Minister Joe Ceci says they want to get away from the previous tendency to have “insiders recruiting other insiders.”
“After 44 years of one government and a wide range of recruitment processes… this is a time for Albertans to actively be invited to have a voice in their government.”
Anyone is free to take a look and apply.
“We always need new members,” says Ceci. “People time out or term out, so this is a way to continually staff-up.”
This is another step in the province’s re-working of arms-length ABCs. Since last fall 26 have been amalgamated or dissolved, saving about $33 million over three years. (kdr)
