The Edmonton Police Service is out with another warning after more drivers were pulled over near the High Level Bridge Tuesday night.
Officers handed out 16 tickets, including one for a motorcycle that was travelling almost 130 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Five other vehicles were pulled over after going at least 104 km/h.
“It’s very troubling to know that there are drivers out there who think this is an acceptable way to commute on our city streets,” says Sgt. Kerry Bates, EPS Traffic Safety Coordinator. “It’s quite astonishing, actually.”

The enforcement efforts in the area stem from concern from community members over careless driving, speeding, and noise.
“As we saw last night, some drivers are travelling more than double the speed limit on an elevated and narrow roadway, situated over a body of water,” says Sgt. Bates. “Driving at this rate of speed, in an area like this, leaves little room for error and compromises the safety of others significantly.” (djs)
