There’s good news for at least one city project right now. The work to build a funicular on the river valley by the Hotel Macdonald is not only on time, but it’s also on budget.
Rob Marchak, Director of Urban Initiatives with the City, says the entire project will allow you to access the trail system from the Hotel Macdonald area.
“So it is the combination of the funicular, the staircase, promenade, a bridge over Grierson Hill, and then the elevator taking you right to the hill.”
Larry Wall with the River Valley Alliance says the river valley is where people in our city congregate, but it can be a little intimidating.
“This project is going to allow for citizens and visitors to our area to get down to the River Valley trail, the TransCanada trail, and the connections throughout the whole system.”
The project is expected to be opened by fall next year. (kb)
