Expect crowds at the Valley Zoo, the Muttart Conservatory, and Fort Edmonton Park for Free Admission Day.
Until 6:00pm Sunday, you can check out several City-run facilities for free. The City’s Elena Londeau says it began as a way to commemorate the Province’s 100th birthday, and caught on.
“It’s a celebration with Edmontonians and a way to say thank you to them,” she says, “and also a way for us to showcase our programs and services at our attractions and recreation centres.”
Several Rec Centres and YMCA’s are also opening their doors for free.
The City is also collecting donations for Edmonton’s Food Bank, so be sure to take a non-perishable food item with you.
And remember: parking may be hard to come by, so public transit is a better option. As of 11:00am on Sunday, there was already a sizable line of cars waiting to get into the Fort Edmonton Park lot.
