This weekend, hundreds of free family arts events are underway around the province.
It’s the 9th annual Alberta Culture Days, with art walks, dance demonstrations, film screenings and talent shows.
Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ricardo Miranda, tells the Alberta Morning News, traveling the province never gets old for him, due to the richness of our culture.
“I see something new, I see through the eyes of somebody else, who’s got another story to tell,” says Miranda. “The beauty about art, and culture, and all these different things, is that it’s every evolving, and ever changing, and it’s a reflection of the changing communities that make up our province.”
Miranda adds as Albertans, we’re proud of our diverse history, and love to share it through art.
“This is an opportunity for us to celebrate as a community… all those diverse ways in which we express our culture, whether it’s through dance, or it’s through music, or it’s through painting, or just being together,” he says.
Alberta Culture Days goes until Sunday, October 2. (scb)
