A 33-year-old man is dead after a crash on the Anthony Henday.
The a crash, between Lessard Road and Callingwood Road, closed traffic in both directions for a large portion of the morning commute. Southbound lanes re-opened around noon. It wasn’t until just before 2:00 p.m. that northbound lanes also re-opened.
The crash happened right at the start of the morning rush, at around 6:50 a.m. Police say a southbound vehicle crossed the median, hitting a northbound truck and sending both rolling into the ditch.
The driver of the northbound vehicle died after being taken to hospital. The southbound driver, a 44-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Photos from the iNews880 Helicopter showed two trucks in the ditch, with one sitting on its roof. Traffic was significantly backed up through the morning commute.
The EPS Traffic Section has taken over the investigation and is still looking into the cause of the crash. Investigators are looking to speak with any witnesses. No charges have been laid at this time.
