Enbridge has announced 5 per cent cuts to its workforce in the United States and Canada.
An Enbridge spokesperson tells The Globe and Mail that the layoffs are the result of an organizational review that started early this year.
Of the 11,000 people currently employed by Enbridge, 370 of those will be cut from the company in Canada and 160 from the US.
It’s unknown how many people will be affected in Edmonton.
Enbridge recently purchase Houston, US-based energy company Spectra Energy Corp. in a $37 billion deal, but the Enbridge spokesperson says the job cuts are unrelated. (djs)
