A violent collision near Myrnam, east of Edmonton, has left two women dead and two children injured.
It took place around 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the intersection of Highway 881 and Highway 45.
The Mounties say a northbound SUV entered the intersection from a stop sign and was suddenly struck by a westbound semi-truck.
The dead included a 37-year-old woman from Niagara Falls, Ontario, who had been driving the SUV, along with a 32-year-old woman from Victoria, B.C.
A 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy — both from Niagara Falls — were rushed to hospital, with the younger one ending up at the Stollery.
RCMP say they will not be releasing names, expect for that of a 4-year-old brown, black and white Border Collie named Oliver, who appears to have run away after the collision.
