Smash-and-grab ATM thefts are becoming a little more common, but it’s still unusual for the thieves to come in through the roof.
RCMP report that’s just what two men did at a Shell station in Red Deer’s Gasoline Alley. The duo cut a hole in the roof, climed in using a tow rope, and made off the with the ATM.
A little ways west of the station, the cash machine was found broken open with the help of a sledge hammer and crowbar.
Mounties are now searching for suspects. If you have any information related to the incident, you’re urged to contact Blackfalds RCMP or Crime Stoppers. (scb)
