The aerial park and activity centre for Rainbow Valley is a ‘go.’ City council gave approval to the summer time park that will include zip lines, rope swings, a tower and a maze, even though they got calls criticizing the facility that would share the same parking lot that the ski run uses in the winter. Coun. Michael Walters admits it didn’t look good when the equipment was delivered to the site, prior to council making the decision.
“That potentially was a little bit clumsy. If we had voted against it, they would have had to move their equipment out. That had nothing to do with what we were deciding today, ‘was this a project that is the right thing for a part of the river valley that’s already got some development in it?’ and most people said, ‘yeah, this would be an excellent addition to that amenity’.”
Snow Valley hopes to attract as many as 10,000 visitors.
