There’s some new blood at the head of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
So new, that the longest-serving current member of the orchestra has been playing with them more than twice as long as 24-year-old Alex Prior has been alive(violinist Broderyck Olson joined in 1961).
Prior was announced as ESO’s new Chief Conductor Thursday morning. He was born in London, England and has conducted several guest performances in Edmonton since 2014. He’s also performed with orchestras all over Europe and North America.
He says he chose Edmonton because he felt a special bond with the players and the city. (kdr)
