Judge Elizabeth Johnson called it, “disturbing,” and the crown prosecutor said the defendant showed a “total disregard” for the lives of the children in the school yard and the people just outside of Sherwood School.
26 year old Brodie Rae Christensen told the court Tuesday that he was angry and frustrated with the slow pace of West Jasper Place traffic on the afternoon of October 2nd, last year.
That’s when he made the self-described “horrific” decision to smash the gas pedal down and swerve around the driver ahead of him. What he didn’t know was that the police had chosen that afternoon to set up a radar gun in the 30 kilometer an hour school zone. They caught Christiensen going 122 kilometers an hour.
The judge sentenced him to a week in jail, he’ll serve that time on weekends. Christensen is also banned from driving for a year.
