With Christmas less than two months away, elves at 630 CHED Santas Anonymous have settled into their new warehouse and are prepping for this year’s deliveries.
Executive director of 630 CHED Santas Anonymous Lana Nordlund said everything is coming together nicely.
“We moved everything in in early September. We got the electrician in and the plumber in and everybody else that needed to come in. And it was just absolutely fantastic to be set up and we’re really looking forward for everybody else being able to come and check us out,” said Nordlund.
She explained how they’re reaching out to their new neighbours with an open house at their new 12122 68 Street home.
“Today we’re having a community open house. There were invitations ent home with the kids from school and we put it in the Montrose community newsletter and whatnot. Basically, we just want to introduce ourselves to our new neighbours and let them come and check it out. This is open tot he public. You don’t have to live in the Montrose community to come out.”
Nordlund says it can be a tough season for many Edmonton families with many children looking for help.
“We’re really looking at higher numbers than normal and we’re thinking it’s going to be over 25,000. If we reflect back to 2008 when we had a little bit of a bump there in the economy. It wasn’t until 2010 that it really affected us with our donations being down a lot.”
