So far, so good for Alberta’s flu shot program.
More Albertans are getting immunized compared to this time last year. Alberta Health Services says it has given out more than 122,000 doses of the influenza vaccine in the Edmonton Zone as of last Saturday. That’s nearly 30,000 more than a year ago, a 32 per cent increase.
But the number of flu cases in Alberta so far has tripled from last year (97 compared to 35), when the flu season started late.
AHS is aiming to get 35 per cent of Albertans immunized this flu season. Last year, only 27 per cent of people got a flu shot. (bd)
