The Edmonton Oilers have been playing from behind far too often.
Oilers have given up a goal in the first 2 minutes in 4 of last 6GP. Last 3 NHL seasons-teams scoring first won over 70% of games!

“Our starts and awareness to begin a game aren’t where they need to be,” says head coach Todd McLellan. “That starts with the coaching staff having the team ready to go and prepared. After that it goes to individuals; individuals coming to the rink and understanding the urgency and intensity of what the game might present.”
“It’s a big issue for our team right now, and it has been for too long,” says defenceman Adam Larsson. “We know every time the team is going to come hard at us. We just have to look at ourselves in the mirror. Coaches can’t really do anything. That has to come from the players.”
On Friday, the Oilers allowed a goal 28 seconds into the game and wound up losing 3-2 to the Dallas Stars. They’ll be back at Sunday night against the New York Rangers. Winger Zack Kassian expects to play after missing the last three games with an injury.
“I feel one-hundred percent, and I’m excited to get back going,” says Kassian.
The Oilers have sent forward Taylor Beck back to the Bakersfield Condors. (jrw)
