MacEwan University Campus Services is introducing some state-of-the-art technology to show off.
Potential students can now experience a 3-D tour of the school and residency. MacEwan reached out to President of 3-D Scan Experts Jesse Tutt to develop the project. Tutt told Global News that the experience shows off all aspects of the campus.
“You can fly through all of the different residence areas,” said Tutt. “It gives you a really great feeling of the area and the space.”
For those who don’t live nearby, the virtual tour serves as a substitute to a physical visit. Tutt explained how the project went in-depth to make sure anyone interested in MacEwan knew what it had to offer.
“The shoot actually included multiple floors, and we ended up going across quite a broader area,” he said. “And had different lighting conditions and so it was interesting to make sure that the flow within virtual reality was correct.”
Most university campuses post pictures and descriptions of their living areas and campuses. Kris Bruckmann is Director of Campus Services for MacEwan. He says the virtual tour is an innovative and idea option to show off the facilities.
“Pictures don’t tell you very much. To have them experience a virtual reality experience where they’re immersing them self into the room, they have the ability to walk through the room,” Bruckmann told Global News. “The social space, the social lounges, walk through the lobby – it changes the game. They’re actually able to visit our residence even if they live out of country, out of province, out of city.”
