About a hundred people, mainly home school kids, got the chance to learn a little bit about Islam on Friday. The Muslim Association of Canada’s Islamic Centre held an open house at the request of a local home schooling group. Event organizer Humairah Irfan says it gave her the chance to show her guests that their Muslim neighbors are Canadian too.
“Obviously we want to put a positive spin, like, we are as Canadian as…in fact in our treasure hunt today we hid a bunch of timbits just to show we love our timbits just like everyone else does.”
Irfan says a better understanding of different cultures can ease tensions and make for better neighbors.
