Edmonton Police Service has taken a suspect into custody, related to a string of deliberate fires in southwest Edmonton over the past few days.
Police say the first fire was set in the morning of Sunday, November 20, in an alley north of 109 Street and 51 Avenue. A small structure was damaged. The next morning, Monday, November 21, a jeep was set on fire in the same area. Later that morning, officers were called to a motorhome engulfed in flames in the same alley.
Tuesday morning, police were called back to the same alley, where garbage and a fence were set on fire.
Around 8:00 AM, officers monitoring the alley spotted a pile of wood and a shed on fire. A suspicious man was seen leaving the area, and was apprehended without incident.
EPS believes the 23-year-old man is responsible for all five fires, and charges are pending. (scb)
