Edmonton police are searching for a suspect after a woman was randomly slapped in a Windermere shopping centre parking lot late in the afternoon on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
According to investigators, the woman parked at a Shell station near 62 Avenue and Currents Drive. When she stepped out of her vehicle, she says a man walked up yelling obscenities, and then slapped her across the face.
EPS spokesperson Scott Pattison said investigators are seeking witnesses.
“So investigators believe there were numerous people, shoppers, in the parking lot at that time.” said Pattison. “And of them, there was an elderly woman who may have been a witness to the assault.”
EPS is asking anyone who saw what happened, and that woman in particular, to call them right away. They’re also looking for the suspect. He’s described as white and in his early 50’s with black hair and brown eyes, and stands between 6′ and 6’3″ tall. He also has a thin build.
The woman said he drove off in a full-size older-model grey van that could be a Ford E250, with a sliding door and a novelty license plate on the front that reads, at least in part “RIPPER.” (ms)
