That’s what people were saying when they heard the news.
More than a dozen court cases are going on the back burner because we don’t have the resources to turn up the heat on those accused of breaking the law.
First a hospital wait list now a courtroom wait list.
We’ve been complaining forever about the so-called revolving door at the courthouse that puts those arrested back on the street for police to maybe arrest again.
Now, they’re not even going to have a trial until sometime in the future.
Their cases have been stayed, because we don’t have enough Crown prosecutors or other court workers.
In a time when Alberta has such high unemployment, why were these jobs not filled long ago?
Is someone asleep at the legal switch?
Does the province not have enough money?
Maybe there should have been a crime tax instead of a carbon tax.
If you are shaking your head, imagine how the victims of these now on a waiting list feel.
I’ll bet they are saying more than just, “What?”
Let me know what you think.
