With the state of things in Alberta these days, some are saying the only things that are sure are long wait times, death and taxes.
You heard a while back about Linda, in excruciating pain and needing a hip operation. After being told it would be maybe another two years, she used her savings and went to Grand Cayman to get it done.
Kim also lives in pain. She writes to say she had an MRI more than a year ago that showed the need for a knee operation, and to this day she’s still on a waiting list, just to meet with a specialist.
How long is that list?
And, even if you die, you are not free of the government’s grip.
Frank writes to say his mom got the carbon rebate, $100, in January.
Then she died in February at 103.
Now he has notice from the province that her estate will have to give the money back.
Can you believe that?
They can give huge money for consultants but claw back a hundred bucks from the estate of an expired 103 year old Albertan.
Frank doesn’t even care about the money, it’s the principle.
One might fairly ask – if principle also in short supply in Alberta.
Let me know what you think about that.
