Something we have still not been able to resolve, is the issue of drunk driving.
Every year there are deaths and injuries and lots of property damage, because someone does not know when to stop bending their elbow.
In Saskatchewan, they’re talking about MLA Don McMorris. He resigned from cabinet after getting caught driving drunk. He was fined and lost his license for a year.
He is now driving with an interlock device in his car. It’s lets you start the car after blowing zero.
Drunk drivers in Alberta also have that option, and it costs for installation and monthly calibration.
Now, MLA McMorris wants all vehicles to have one, so no drivers could start their car without blowing. He says it would end the problem of drunk drivers.
Would it, or would they just get someone else to blow?
And why should people who don’t drink, be subjected to that expense?
Would it be worth it to end drunk driving?
Some would prefer if drunks just lost their license and their car forever.
Let me know what you think, should we all pay or should it be user pay?
