Charges have been laid after a fatal collision in northwest Edmonton earlier this month.
At around 8:25 a.m. on March 3, officers were called to the area of 128 Avenue between 97 Street and 101 Street. It was reported that a pedestrian was crossing 128 Avenue when he was hit by a Ford Econoline van travelling eastbound.
The 64-year-old was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries five days later.
Christopher Ralph Smallwood, 31, has been charged with careless driving and was issued a promise to appear.
Speed and alcohol were not considered factors in the collision. This was Edmonton’s third traffic fatality of 2017.
