The Oilers in the play-offs!
I think back to the heady days of the 80’s when they won that string of Stanley Cups.
People I would meet back then would ask if they sounded silly, saying the Oilers’ fortunes seemed to affect the public mood.
When the Oilers won a play-off game people seemed to be happier at work, and when they lost, even drivers seemed to be not as nice to each other.
Some said that when the Oilers won the cup, they had more confidence that they could accomplish more.
Was it all our imagination, or can a winning sports team actually make that kind of a difference?
How are you feeling today after that big win?
When the work on Roger’s Place began, there were the nay-sayers who said that before the Oilers got a new rink, they should start winning some games.
Haven’t heard from those people in a long time.
The Oilers clinched a play-off spot March 28th. The same day my family and friends provided me a social media birthday cake.
The Oilers added the icing, so to speak.
Let me know how their win makes you feel today.
