This business over A Taste of Edmonton led to a taste of bureaucracy and left a bad taste in New Democrat Brian Mason’s mouth, over what he calls the “mean things” that were said before he could fix the problem.
A Taste of Edmonton cannot be held in Churchill Square next year because of coming LRT construction.
Those in charge of tasting had asked in the past, if the event could be held on the grounds of the legislature, please.
They say they were refused because such an event might damage the “dignity” of the place. There was to be no eating or drinking or dancing on the grounds.
The solution would seem to be simple, move the whole affair inside the legislature.
Let people sit in the plush MLA seats to enjoy their food and drink.
No worry about destroying any dignity there.
Remember the school teacher who would not bring students back because of the undignified way MLA’s acted during question period?
We know dancing is allowed, after all the fancy footwork crossing the floor.
I won’t even get into the parties drunk with power, cutting off debate.
They could call it a taste of Legmonton.
Let me know what you think about that.
