We talked last month about how the only things that are sure in Alberta are long wait times, high unemployment, death and taxes.
We also talked about how even if you die, you are not free of the government’s grip.
Remember we shared the story of Frank, who told us how his 103 year old mom got the carbon rebate in January? She died in February, and was just one of the people in Alberta who got a demand from the government to pay back the money.
Grieving families had to add government imposed stress to their already broken hearts.
True, the Canada Revenue Agency was running the rebate program for the NDP, and true, the Alberta government promised to do something about it and now they have.
The Journal is reporting that families of those who die after getting a carbon rebate check will not be asked to pay it back.
I wonder if there will be a rebate rebate for any estates that have already paid.
This outrageous situation would never have been known, if the families had not spoken up and told 630 CHED and Global News and other media what was happening.
As someone once said, one way to get rid of a cockroach is to shine a light on it.
Let me know what you think about all of this.
