A man Edmonton police are calling a “prolific graffiti tagger” is facing mischief charges.
The University of Alberta reported to police that 249 incidents with the graffiti tag “Atlas” had occurred across campus between October 2016 and April 2017.
U of A security reported tags on stairways, electrical fixtures, vending machines, parking barriers, garbage receptacles, chairs, doors, washrooms and heating ducts.
The damage is estimated at around $50,000.
Benjamin Jay Livingstone, 21, faces one count of global mischief over $5,000.
Investigators believe hundreds of additional charges could be pending in relation to other “Atlas” tags across the city.
Anyone who may have seen someone applying the tag “Atlas” anywhere across the city is asked to call police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
