Switzerland’s Peter de Cruz beat the United States’ John Shuster 11-4 in 8 ends Saturday afternoon at the World Men’s Curling Championships.
Switzerland started off well with a two rock first end.
But the Americans came back in the second with two points of their own.
After that though, it was all Switzerland.
They scored two more points in the third, fourth and sixth ends and added three more in the eigth to force the match to end early.
Both teams now sit at 8-3 in the tournament.
Switzerland is now set to take on Sweden in the semi-final for a shot at playing Canada in the gold medal game on Sunday.
The semi-final is at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The United States have been regulated to the bronze medal game on Sunday morning.
The gold medal game goes at 6 p.m. on Sunday down at Northlands Coliseum. (km)
