An interesting court hearing coming up Hamilton, Ontario.
Foster parents Derek and Frances Baars allege the Children’s Aid Society violated the Charter of Rights, by closing down their foster home, because they refused to tell children the Easter Bunny was real.
They say they told the case worker they would be hiding Easter eggs for two little girls in their care to find, but they say the case worker wanted them to “pro-actively” tell the children the Easter Bunny was real, because it was part of Canadian culture.
The foster parents say they refused to outright lie to the children and their home was closed.
We have yet to hear the case worker’s side, and there is no word whether the Easter Bunny will be called to testify.
There are lots of rabbits in my neighborhood, so I’ll see if one of them can tell me if they are busy over Easter.
In the meantime, tell me how you found out, and what you tell your children.
