An Edmonton dentist is so excited about the Edmonton Oilers playoff run, he is offering his patients who need crowns the chance to have an Oilers logo imprinted on their teeth.
“Since the Oilers haven’t been in the playoffs for so long, now there is so much Oilers spirit here. As a dentist, this is all I can offer,” said Dr. Alex Pavlenko of SanaDental.
“It’s not about selling anything. It’s just about cheering for the Oilers and being a good hockey fan.”
Having art on crowns is not that rare.
“It’s not unusual. People want to use art to say ‘I love you ‘ or whatever. That was done before. But never done for a hockey team, or sports teams. This is the first time,” said the dentist.
Dr. Pavlenko won’t put the crowns on healthy teeth, just ones that either need a first-time crown or need to change one that’s due to be replaced. The cost of the crown itself depends on different factors, but the cost for the artwork is being described as “minimal.”
The toothy sign of fandom was announced Friday. At that time, no one had come forward asking for the procedure – yet.
