A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his 71-year-old father east of Edmonton.
On Saturday, police said Kristian Darius Stroh has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Norman Stroh.
Police said both the victim and the accused were from Strathcona County.
Officers were called to rural Strathcona County Friday afternoon where they found a man who appeared to have been stabbed to death, the RCMP said. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
A heavy police presence could be seen in the area of Range Road 212 and Township Road 542 on Saturday morning.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has now taken over the investigation.
Kristian Stroh remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Strathcona County Provincial Court on Wednesday morning.
