It’s May 1st, 2017.
On May 1st, 2016 the news dealt, among other things, with the last year of NDP government.
There was a story on the construction of a new indoor riding facility at the Whitemud Equine Centre.
There was an article on whether plasma donors should be paid.
The naval community was commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic.
There was a story on respecting the natural habitat animals lived in.
There were a couple of fire stories in the news, one had to do with a teen-age boy arrested on arson charges in Mayerthorpe, another had to do with a house fire in Jackson Heights.
Within a couple of days these animal habitat and fire-related stories were about to be amplified thousands of times in Fort McMurray.
The wildfire there is also believed to have a human cause.
More than 2,000 homes and buildings would be burned.
Forested areas and wildlife habitat would be destroyed.
This week, we’ll be sharing the stories of the human response to the Beast.
I would appreciate reading your story.
