Everything is still on track for the city to hit it’s street sweeping target of June 1.
Despite the recent wintry weather, 30 percent of the work has been done thanks to crews working around the clock.
Director of Roadway Maintenance, Eduardo Sosa, told Global News, the city isn’t the only group at work keeping the streets clean, especially in busy areas.
“We also share responsibility for sweeping those areas, with the adjacent property owner,” explained Sosa. “So if there is a sidewalk adjacent to a business, the business is responsible for sweeping the sidewalk, and the city, of course, will be sweeping the street.”
Sosa says crews spend the daytime hours going through residential roads while fewer cars are parked in the area, then hit major roads at night when traffic is low.
