Threats sent via the photo-sharing application Snapchat led to the arrest of a student from Spruce Grove Composite High School.
RCMP responded to a complaint regarded the threats just before 9 a.m. Wednesday. They confirmed the picture message involved the presentation of an air soft gun, and threats to carry out an act of violence at the school.
School staff immediately secured the student, who was taken into police custody without incident when RCMP arrived. From the onset of the receipt of the threats, to the prompt follow up, students and staff were not in any danger.
The student faces criminal code charges in relation to the threats, and under the Youth Criminal Justice Act no further identifying information will be provided.
RCMP continue to have a strong relationship with the staff and administration of Spruce Grove Composite High School. (KLM)
