Edmonton police shut down a stretch of 118 Avenue Friday afternoon after a collision involving one of their officers.
Police said the officer was standing next to a parked cruiser near 58 Street and 118 Avenue at around 1:40 p.m. Friday while responding to a disturbance. A minivan hit another cruiser, thrusting other police vehicles forward and into the officer.
The officer was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The man driving the minivan was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police said 118 Avenue will be closed between 57 Street and 62 Street until further notice. (bd)
