A year after the devastating Fort McMurray forest fire, a job fair is taking place in Calgary in an attempt to draw new workers to the northern Alberta city.
“We do have a strong labor force in the region. However, we are looking for skilled workers, positions like nurses and we need massage therapists, and some of these positions right now we are finding those are difficult to fill within the region,” executive director of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce, Alexis Foster told NewsTalk770.
Foster added there is plenty of rental housing that has seen prices drop from the boom-time highs, when she was paying $2,200 a month for a basement suit.
“It’s gone down, I think you might be able to get something for $17 [hundred], possibly even lower.”(BM)
