A 'real opportunity' for both the Alberta Liberal party and the province.

That's how David Swann describes being elected today as the new leader of the Alberta Liberal's.

He is replacing outgoing leader Kevin Taft who steeped down after the party lost nearly half their seats in the last election.

Swann tells iNews880 he shares many of the same values and policies as Taft, but it's time for a new style. "I want to renew this party and take new directions that Albertans want us to take. I want to reflect Albertans very broadly with a new and bold agenda, that spans the public interest for the long term. We haven't seen that in Alberta for 15 years."

Swann feels many Albertans have given up on politics and politicians.
The newly crowned leader of the Alberta Liberals says they will now work to convince Albertans their party can be trusted. (td,blb)
