A Red Deer-area couple is accused of defrauding a business they worked for, of $167,800.
Charged are Jacklyn and Sean Saunders, both 27, of Blackfalds. She faces charges of fraud and theft over $5,000, along with forgery and altering documents. He's charged with theft and uttering a forged document.
It's alleged that Jacklyn Saunders, while working in an administrative capacity for the company, altered 61 cheques to reflect larger amounts of money than what was intended. This was over a two-and-a-half-year period ending in September of last year. Of those, RCMP say 56 were made payable to her, and five more to another employee.
Police say Sean Saunders worked in sales for the company. Both will be in court in mid-January.(bp, ccg)
