Amanda Lindhout is back home in Alberta.

 

That was the word Wednesday afternoon from a woman, speaking on behalf of the family of the Canadian journalist, recently freed after being held hostage for 15 months in Somalia.

In a statement, Sarah Geddes says Lindhout, 28, is back in Alberta with her family. Members of the family are still asking for privacy.

 

Lindhout and Australian photographer Nigel Brennan were kidnapped by gunmen near Mogadishu in August of last year. Brennan has also since returned home.(bp, ccg)
