Alberta health officials say a teenage boy with no underlying health conditions has died after contracting the H1N1 virus.
The teen lived in or around Calgary, but officials refused to give more information for privacy reasons.
Reports have identified the boy as Michael Gorbous, 16, but family members declined to comment. Gorbous' family previously told reporters that the teen contracted the illness earlier in the fall and had slipped into a coma while fighting it.
They wanted the public to learn from their son's situation and urged people to get vaccinated. The teen's death brings the number of Albertans whose deaths have been linked to H1N1 to 65. (The Canadian Press, ccg)
