2/8/2010
If you're a home builder in Edmonton, it appears 2010 is off to a good start.
That's because housing starts in January were up 40% from a year ago.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says builders started more single-detached homes. Even though there are not as many apartments getting built, analysts expect that to get better throughout the year. And they think single-detached production will stay strong as the economy recovers.
January is the eighth month in a row that builders in Edmonton started more homes than the year before.
