"We are getting together a bunch of random strangers downtown to clean up Oliver-area." Getting together a group of strangers may sound odd... but it's just another day for Edmonton Twitter users who are gathering together to clean up downtown Edmonton today.

This afternoon, a group of about 20 people who met via the internet site Twitter, are cleaning up the Oliver neighbourhood. It's all apart of the Capital City Cleanup program.

Cary Williams (in green in the picture) is spear-heading the 'Cleanup, Tweetup' and he explains why they chose the Oliver area. "Well actually, my wife and I live there, so we signed up to be block captains this year. We decided it'd be a great excuse to get everyone together, have some beverages and clean up downtown, and just have a great time."

If you'd like to register to Adopt-A-Block and help clean up the city, registrations are open until May 1st. (blb)
