Legendary industry tycoon T. Boone Pickens energized a large crowd at a Calgary luncheon today.

Pickens expects the US to have an energy plan later this year beneficial to Canada.

The 81 year old who's gotten the ear of President Barack Obama is currently behind a plan to build the world's largest wind farm in his home state of Texas.

He's also pushing natural gas to play a bigger role in reducing foreign imports.

Pickens says as that happens Canada can play a major role in picking up the slack.

Later he told reporters he's looking at getting involved in a wind energy deal in southwestern Alberta.

"If it's a better deal in Alberta than it is in Texas, then I'd be more interested in Alberta than I would Texas, I want to the best deal I can wherever I invest my money," Pickens said.

Pickens drew a crowd of 770 people to the gathering. (QR, rw)
