The memorial for a city firefighter as it passes 107 Street and 103 Avenue.
A somber weekend for firefighters in Edmonton.
Saturday, they remember one of their own in a memorial for Station Captain Al Harris. Harris died of esophageal cancer last weekend. Esophageal cancer is a "presumptive cancer", a cancer thought to be contracted while on duty.
Captain Grant Ward was on the firefighter curling team with Harris. Ward explains how the man will be remembered. "I think he'll be remembered by all his colleagues as a great curler, and an outstanding station captain."
Ward says cancer is one of the hidden dangers facing firefighters. A memorial for Harris, a firefighter with 30 years experience, was held downtown.
