The Edmonton Social Planning Council is out with it's bi-annual social trends report, and this year is a good news, bad news story.

John Kolkman with the council says, the report measures major social and economic trends in the edmonton community, particularly those that affect low income Edmontonians.

Organizations like the United Way and the Food Bank look to the report for an indication of how best to serve their clients and decide on program planning.

Kolkman says the bad news, is the potential impact the economic downturn is having on low income Edmontonians.

But, Kolkman says, the good news is there's been steady improvement in the number of Edmontonians graduating from high school, as well as receiving post-secondary degrees and diplomas.

He says this bodes well for when the economy turns around. (ly)
