UPDATE: A busy couple days for police in Camrose, southeast of Edmonton.
They say it began Wednesday with a person robbing a local Shoppers Drug Mart for a small amount of narcotics.
That led to police obtaining a warrant for a suspect's arrest, who they tracked to a Camrose home in the area of 42nd Avenue and 58th Street. The area was evacuated with the help of the RCMP around noon Thursday.
A negotiator went to work after Camrose police say several gun shots were fired from within the home. But after several hours of trying to talk the suspect down, police say he turned a handgun on himself and fired one shot.
Charles Daniel Nadeau, 31, was rushed to hospital with a self-inflected gun shot wound to the chest. Camrose police say charges are now pending against Nadeau. (td, ccg)
