The countdown is on to the Tim Horton's Roar of the Rings, and the excitement is starting to build for the curlers who will take part.
Shannon Kleibrink, who won bronze at the Turin Olympics in 2006 says it's going to be nerve-wracking to play in front of a home town crowd, knowing that a trip to the Vancouver Olympics is on the line.
Kleibrink says, Rexall Place can be very intimidating, so she'll have to learn to tune out the crowd: "I just had a look at Rexall Place and how big it is and how many people might actually be in there. You know, you do need to get into that place where you kind of put the fans out of your head and just play your game. We'll get there. We have 32 days."
The Road of the Rings runs from the 6th to the 13th of December at Rexall Place.
Starting this Saturday, tickets will be available for individual draws.
Until now, only full event and mini packs were available.
Organizers say ticket sales are at the $134,000 mark, and they hope to sell $200,000 before the Roar is heard across the city. (dl,blb)
